For those of you that do not read the performance section - I have a question about ignition timing...

Read a few posts a while back about ignition timing pull under boost. So I startted monitoring mine and noticed the following:

a- at idle or a stop light it's usually around 6 deg
b- under partial throttle the timing pegs at 16.5 deg
c- under WOT it usually drops from 16.5 to about 11 deg or so, sometimes less depending on load conditions

A couple of questions:

a- should it peg at 16.5 or is my scan tool not providing the correct data?
b- should the timing drop under WOT?

I have a ST chip, high flow cat, stock cat-back. Stage 0 is complete.

Thanks,
Tom

You ever watch timing on a DI car on a scan tool....it will drive ya' nuts!!! But being that it's not a DI car I still have never watched the timing? Perhaps I should? next time I'm road testing for the forever readiness monitors I will look. But being a technician I must inquire as to why your reading it and not relying on the ECM to do it's work? Are you trying to diagonsis a problem or just researching?

The ECM is doing all the work. I read that timing pull can happen under boost if the plugs are not properly gapped. I guess that I am just looking for a problem that may or may not be there. Thanks.
