Has anyone changed a set of Nivomat Self-Leveling Rear Shocks on a 1998 XC70 or similar wagon? Is there anything special about removing these shocks as compared to a normal set of rear shocks (non-leveling)? My wagon has 120K and I was wondering if these shocks should be changed. I don't believe they have totally failed, but I've only had the wagon for 20K so I don't really know what the car would have felt like with new shocks. Furthermore, I read where you could on earlier volvo models that you could replace the Novimats with regular shocks but you had to replace the springs with stiffer ones? Any help with this matter would be appreciated.

The shocks are a breeze to remove, it's the springs that are a PITA!!!!!!
