Just lost my evap. canister. Can I continue driving it for awhile? Should I vent the hoses to air?

I just have them plugged into each other right now...seems fine smile.gif

But it just happened, any and all help appreciated

thanks!

Should be OK until you can replace it. You might get a 315 code for the evap valve, but you know whats wrong so, just erase it and get a canister when you can.

Rich,

thanks so much. That's a relief. Can I leave the 2 hoses plugged into each other or should I vent it to atmosphere? I felt a vacuum pull on the smaller hose, so I plugged them into each other so it wasn't pulling unmetered air.

And how long are we talking about?....Like, can I drive it for 3 months like this? Will the CEL put it into limp mode?

Any idea as to the cost of the item???

Thanks guys!

Well you should have vacuum when the computer tells the EVAP valve to Suck, and it should suck on the canister, but thats gone so I think you are sucking on the fuel tank, that has fumes and will show a change to rich condition and so you might not get a CEL. How long can you run that way, I'd be guessing, don't know.
