Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has had this sorta noise coming from the engine area.
My car is a 1992 Volvo 850. You may have seen it in the Cosmetic/Detailing Thread.
Anyway, when i start up the car i can hear a rattle/clicking noise. It's louder when i put the car in D (Drive). But softer when the car is in P (Park)
I'm not sure if this is normal noise, or could it be the cause of the airconditioning.
As our aircondition has been faulty for awhile...and we're getting it repaired soon.
We know the aircon is faulty coz the 2 light switch lights blink when u start up the car. Could the airconditioning piping or whatever be making that noise?
I will record the sound of the engine area when i get the time to do so.
Hope someone can help me.
Thanks
Noise From Engine Bay

With all the stuff under the hood it's hard to isolate small noises and describe them to someone else. Could be any thing. If you don't have a stethescope use a long screwdriver as one by putting your ear on the handle while using the tip on various parts.
The AC on mine still works fine although the two lights have been blinking for a year or more. I believe the manual says they are a symptom of the emissions systom problem but it passed PA regs.
Go figure.

Well we sent our car to a Volvo Dealer Service Centre for brake pad changing, service and checking up the aircon etc the other day. They hooked it up to their computer system..and found 7 faults in the aircon. They reset the onboard computer for the aircon on the car and the lights didn't come up for awhile. Until yesturday when the weather started to get hot around 34deg or so. We've booked the car in for next week...so that they can recheck it on the computer, hopefully there aren't 7 faults with the aircon. Because that might be causing the problems with other parts i suppose.
Well our AC problem is worse then yours, coz after the lights blink it aircon pretty much cuts off and the air flow is very low. Until your drive for about 10mins, and it will start working again.
