When I accelerate, my engine compartment makes that sound (Clackity Clack Clackclaclaclaclaclaclaclaclaclca). I think it's a "sticky" valve(s) type sound, but I'm not definite. Anybody have any ideas what this could be?

It's proportional to the RPM, not travelling/axle/wheel speed, and it only occurs when I accelerate/press on the gas. Shifts are butter smooth, and the engine pulls strong. No oil leaks, and doesn't seem to burn oil. Mobil 1 synthetic since 96K miles.

Car has 145K miles.

Don't know what else to say.

its not permanent...it looks just like oil but I guess it penetrates the dirty stuck in the lifters and helps clean them up...I put it in my car after JRL from SS suggested it to me....after a day or so of driving, my noise was gone...drove some more on it and it hasn't come back yet....

Sounds like it's time for a good ole' Italian Tune-up. Providing the Timing Belt, Oil, and Engine are in good shape.

thats a pretty intensive procedure...its much easier to change your oil and add the treatment...if its still click after that, then, yes, maybe the o-rings are bad....but I think that shouldn't be the first treatment you try...

First try will be the Italian Tune-Up... if i can find a long enough strip of road to drive 40mph in L on

Second will be AutoRX. I'm gonna give it a shot to see if that does anything.

If those two fail, I'll just deal with it. The car drives fine, just sounds "not too good."

Bahhh, I just realized that maybe it's the exhaust that's leaking. Know what? It is, right at the down pipe/turbo junction. I guess the little donut that came with the down pipe is a bit too small or isn't lined up properly.

Hopefully this resolves any Clackity Clack Clackclaclaclaclaclaclaclaclaclca...
