What's new? Well, the morning cold start up air pump groaning noise is back after the dealership 'fixed' it. Need to take the car in. Brothers' 98 S70 T5SE hit 5X,XXX miles and the abs module is acting up (tracs light/abs light) and he claims its a scam by volvo. Mine got replaced in the 50k range, too, albeit under warranty (something rediculous like 600 usd to fix it). The S70 T5 is running good, 205/45 P-Zero Nero's are sticky and holding up well, except gas prices have hit $2.75 and summer is a couple months away (when gas prices hike to highest of the year)
Anyways, to the topic at hand...
So I asked a while ago about the harness (the amber colored translucent wire harness that attaches to the bulb) part # to the passenger foglight (factory) as it had burned out. I replaced the wiring and the harness was the culprit to the random outages (simply touching the harness would make the light work again). If someone has that handy, please let me know the part #.
Recently, the fog light glass has cracked right down the middle horizontally and I figure it's a good time to replace. The question is: OEM or aftermarket (PIAA / Catz). Has anyone gone aftermarket and used the stock bracket and wiring?
Pictured below is the stock foglight with the stock bracket:
There are three PIAA fog lights that PIAA suggest will fit the S70 with "little or no modification". I'm looking for something that will look as clean as the OEM lights but I do know that PIAA fog lights work much better and actually enhance the night time driving experience whereas the stock OEM don't do anything except look cosmetic. The price for oem is 300 (oem aftermarket is about 60 each) and the aftermarket piaa's can be had for 75-150 shipped as a complete set.
The following is the ideal choice from piaa and along with it is the dimension:

004XT 2.5" round - 3" deep

The pros of going aftermarket are clear, but the cons would be the small circle shape might expose the bracket and the wiring behind the foglight, yes?
