take it out and give it a good cleaning (especially around the contacts)
if that doesn't help you can score master window controls on ebay

I note the question from Leo about the window switch and wouldn't you know it.... mine is squirrely also!
Got a 98 S70 and the LF window went down and wouldn't go up right away so I've left in place once it went up, pending an upcoming shop visit for timing belt which I prefer to leave to a pro.
My question is... can you give a few details on how to access the master window swithc and clean it? Seems like a straight forward procedure.
Bay 13 where are you? By the way... you are retired Navy??

Yes retired Navy.
The switch is hard to get out without taking the door panel off so you can push it out, then you have to unclip the plastic that holds it all together. If you are patient and have a tool you can reach down below the switches with, you can hook it and pull up and work the switch out, you can also break it so it won't stay back together. Then if you are luck and none of the plastic that the metal tabs slide on is melted, you might be able to clean the contacts and bend them so they work correctly. Most I've torn apart are not worth fixin.

Wow.. looks like I may leave that window switch repair to someone else.
Remove the entire door panel... just to access a window switch.
Thanks for the insight and all you do here !

The rear window guide is what usually causes that. Raise the window up all the way, and then shake the door and see if you can hear a rattle. I just replaced mine for the same problem, took some Pics will post this weekend in the Maintenance and repair section of this site. (Hopefully)
