Okay,

My wifey is going to be out of town next week so I need to order some caliper paint, touch up paint, and other goodies ASAP so I can work on my car.

What is the best place to get caliper paint...IPD?

How 'bout touch up paint...dealer?

Thanks in advance for telling me again what has probably been posted 100's of times before.

Gary, the IPD stuff is pretty $$$ Try that shucks over off of Iowa across the street from MCdonalds... Dupli-Color or someone else makes a decent kit.

PREPARATION IS KEY. get a couple cans of brakleen and a SS toothbush and clean those effers up good.

VST Caliper paint is great stuff.

My search for "caliper" came up with this.
http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.php?s...8025&hl=caliper

For touch up paint, nothing beats the dealer's little brush and bottle.

You'll have to redo it more often however.

I recall seeing the Duplicolor caliper paint kit at the Walmart on Meridian Ave. in Bham and it wasn't that expensive. I usually check-out Walmart for car stuff before heading out to Schucks as WM is cheaper.

Kev, back here so soon? Enjoy the drive up to Whister. Last time I went up recently there were speed traps in 2 locations - one around the Furry Creek golf course area, and the other after the old bridge (it's a small metal bridge over a creek).

Well dude, as you already know BC is full of traps - speed traps in Whislter and "booby" traps at Sammy PJs. Wonder who got caught with the latter last weekend.

I used the G2 Styling kit. Google around, I got it for $40. It's a brush-on so you don't have to worry about taking the calipers and pads off, but do get a stainless steel brush and scrub the crap out of them. Use a lot of the spray that comes with whatever kit too.

As for touching it up... fingernail polish. Chips and stuff happen, and it's just as hard as the caliper paint.

just grab some caliper paint for 9 CND
you can do 3 cars with it
and then do what kev says and get brake cleaner of some sort...i didn't even brush mine and it's still been on for a year but i used the dealership's stuff
don't mask off anything...just generally cover some of the rotor so you don't get paint on the part that connects to the wheel cuz it look stupid...and then paint
the paint on the rotor comes off as you brake and the paint on the pads will be gone when you change em

I used the Duplicolor kits on my calipers, it looks really nice but you cant just slop it all over your pads and other braking components etc, otherwise it looks really cheap. Takes 3 coats i painted my dads 850R turbo's calipers with the same can and have over half of it left, very good kit for 13 bucks.
