Tan interior haters need not apply!

I've noticed some early 850's came stock with a black dash and tan interior ... I really like the look of it! In addition to the black dash pad I would get black leather door panel inserts, but leave the speaker grilles tan. Then the finishing touch to tie it all together would be either black inner panels or black pipe stitching (like the R seats) on the new leather seats skins that I plan on getting this summer from Classic Soft Trim.

I'm not too big on the tan color of 850s. S70s on the other hand do have nice tan interiors. Same for the P2s.

I dunno ... crappy Volvo carpet I guess, it fades to pink over time.

Guys, forget about the pinked carpet and the seats in that pic ... just focus on the dash and imagine some nice custom two-tone tan leather seats with black inserts

Sorry Felix, wasn't trying to give you a hard time ... it's just that that pic has nasty looking tan seats and that hideous carpet. I can see why people wouldn't like the tan interior of that car, but it was the only pic I could find of the black dsah on tan. Think I need to crop the pic

tan looks awesome if you ask me i'm one of the very few who doesn't care for the black interior over the tan. I'd leave the dash tan and change your door inserts and center console cover to black. here's a shot of what i did to my door panels if you havn't seen it.


it looks good but i'd want black speaker grilles. you can search for the topic i did when i made them, it was a pretty good thread with alot of info. good luck

by the way I have a black S70 with tan interior. I dont think they made ANY OTHER interior in the S70 AWD, because every S70 AWD Ive seen besides mine has tan interior.

Yeah I remember that thread, looks good! I think I'd want the leather inserts if I could find them, and now that I see your doors I think black speaker grilles would be better too.

my '94 is black/tan/pink........ not to hijack but does anyone know if there is any way to dye the carpet back to tan?

HOLY CRAP Doug ... that's BEAUTIFUL !!! Too bad S60 seats wouldn't fit in ours cars, at least I don't think they do (P2 bodystyle). I'm curious as to where you got that pic, VolvoCars.US ? The V70 is on our "down-the-road" radarscope and I'd love to have an interior like that to look forward to possibly.

i got a all tan interior, its fine with me..i would say jus leave it.
..unless u got one jus sitting around or can ge one for a bargon, then go for it.

i don't like tan...but if you are gonna do it, the black accents would definitly make it look cooler and set it apart from the regular tan guys

Have you thought about black carpet instead of tan? I'm thinking of doing that on mine (black dash, black carpet, black leather/tan suede seats)... but I've also got the birchwood, alot lighter interior.

Actually I have thought about black carpet. When I first bought the car last year it didn't have floormats so I threw my nice GG Bailey black floormats in for a while until my new ones arrived. I thought it looked okay. I plan on replacing the carpet anyway when I pull the seats out to install the new leather skins. If there's anything I don't like about the tan interior cars it's the carpet/floormats ... never can keep them clean for long.
