Too Roll Or To Cut The Fenders
#1

I had another thread in maintence but no one was really helping out anymore.
215/40/18 are rubbing on th inner lip of my front fenders (855) they need to be modified. The question is should i roll them or cut them? Each procedure should cost the same.
The tires arnt rubbing thaaat bad.....but after a couple days i can see some discoloration an the tire and the plastic liner is getting VERRRY smooth right where it creases over the fender lip.
What are the benifits and risks of each method??
Thanks
Ben

It's easy to roll the front fenders, therefore I won't waste the effort on cutting.
Now the rears are very difficult to roll, therefore I would cut those.

Luckily it is just the fronts that are rubbing so no worries about the rears.
How is the volvo paint? like will it be ok with the rolling or will it crack? - as far as i know the fenders are origanal paint (black)
Teh guy I talked to sounds like he has done a bunch - i got his name from a local rim shop

You need to use a heat gun and slightly heat the lip of the fender as you are rolling it. The heat will give the paint elasticity so it won't crack. Do not excessively heat the paint or you will damage the paint.

Thanks for the input
The fenders are rolled!
The front bumper might still be a rubbing spot too though (only under heavy suspension compression like hard breaking).....but only on the right side - it looks like it has been pushed back a fingers width or so...so i shaved the rivits off there....anything else I can do?

I just spent the evening cutting out parts of my wheel liner with an exacto knife...(the areas behind the front bumper)
But i think this weekend i am going to have to take off my front bumper and heat it to "roll" its lips in as well....NOT FUN!! esspecially since i all ready hacked up my wheel liners.....THEN i realized i would have to heat and mold the bumper and could have just moved the liner behind it insead of cutting it all away.......NO FUN

I rolled mine in and up. 225/35/18 no rub.
BTW there is no such thing as idiot-proof.
