So the other day i had pulled up to a Grand Prix, knowing full well that he should be able to smoke me i decided id race him just for the fun of it, he seemed kinda cocky but i was dead wrong. so the light turned green, i gunned it and i could have sworn within the first 5 or 6 seconds he was 3 or 4 car lengths ahead of me. I was shocked but i still kept gunning it, soon enough around 100kms i was less than half a car length behind him. so it was like that until we were almost side by side until i noticed the red up ahead and slowed down, i looked at him and gave him a quick salute *NOT THE ONE FINGER* an actual salute and he did the same back, Its always good to race against people who arent assholes i.e. whenever i smoke ricers they always proceed to give me the one finger salute, yea im terribly sorry that your civic with teh bodykit sux jerk, so anyway back to the grand prix, he turned left and i went forward, really good race. Just to be clear i always race in unpopulated areas i do not condone racing around residential areas, thats just stupid.

Drive safe everybody

T-5. I dont know if N/A could have fared taht well against it considering it is an automatic and hes got the devils paddleshifting right on his steering wheel.

HOW I LOATHE THE PADDLESHIFT (not on F1s though on F1s its cool)

Good story. smile.gif

Does it come in the same flavors over there that it does over here? (GT1, GT2, GTP) I think only the GTP is available with tapshift over here, and those are the ones you have to worry about. 3.8L Supercharged 0 0-60 in under 7 seconds. Big and quick, the way I like it. biggrin.gif BTW tapshift is a manumatic type shift. It's a 4 speed automatic w/ buttons to shift up and down.

Im not 100% on this but im pretty sure that paddleshift is optional on any version of the car

Edit: however hearing of this manumatic of yours im pretty sure that thats what it was the 4 gear thingy, but if u forget to shift does it do it for u?

Not according to their US website, but that's why I was wondering if they are sold the same where you are. But yes it is definitely an manumatic. smile.gif

I'm not sure how the pontiac version works, but a lot of similar transmissions won't shift for you, they will just bounce off a rev limiter/fuel cutoff until you remember to shift. Again, I'm not sure how the pontiac tapshift works.

Well im up here in Canada and my dad was interested in buying one, i convinced him not to but my dad didnt wanna get the GTP cuz he didnt want to waste too much gas but he asked if he could still get the tapshift and im pretty sure i heard the salesman say that it would cost him extra but that it was possible

Installed post-factory maybe? Who knows. Sounds like a good deal though. After a little more (but not much) thinking, the only other Manumatic GM has made (I believe its the only one) is the one in the S80, so it probably works the same way. Now if only I remembered how that was.

Well I drove a t6 s80 with the tiptronic/manumatic, it just bounced off, and hung there almost, it was like time stopped. heh creepy. Actually the manumatic in the s80 00 first gen, was horrible and on most s80's needed to be repaired, or else. mad.gif

GMs new 6spd hydramatic RWD transmission is capable of manumatic... it debuted on the Velite i believe...

otherwise i think only the GP has the tap shift... and the S80 appearently...

their 6 spd FWD auto may have it, but since i have not seen the fruit of that tranmission yet (it hasnt debuted yet) i dont know.

P.S. do the BMWs have it? i think GM makes the 5series auto?

oh well regardless, the L67 is an engine to be feared, despite its 20+ years of life... they also managed to get it SULEV and still make 200hp for the buick LaCrosse... blink.gif

oh and if you ever come across a 3.8L anything that has performance cams and a higher revv limiter... well, dont even bother, youll just get smoked.

Not sure if the auto has it, but BMW has SMG. You can look up SMG if you go to bmw.com and learn all about it. It's much better than anything thrown together by GM. wink.gif

Paddle shifted automatic? Thats nothing magical kids, just a relocated shifter location.

the SMG is a real box.

That being said, GTP's are like DSMs. You absolutely NEVER know what your going to get when you run one. I had alot of buddies when I was still doing pontiacs in the low 12's with super sleeper looking cars.
