so im going down the highway, its a state route actually but like a 2lan highway.. speed limit is around 50 and i see this stock looking z28, now im not one to venture into V8 territory yet as im all stock but i decide to just play and see how i do against him... after trying to entice him for a good half mile he finally takes the bait and gets on it, i get the jump on him and proceed to hold him off till about 75 until a car in his lane makes him slow down, so he proceeds to get behind me with his uber fast lane changing then proceeds to pass me, he goes flying past me and then... HIS TTOPS COME FLYING OFF AND SHATTER ON THE HIGHWAY

misfortune that a volvo holds even on a z for him, and double that misfortune that he loses his ttops....

Wow, this is my first vivit to this forum...... I saw the best race ever though and had to read. Vipers do the same at 140. And the orginal Audi TTs flipped over at around 110 until they added the little wing. Actually a lot of cars have weird stuff happen at speed.

That is kinda scary, I think if I saw two t-tops flaying in my direction I would be out like a candle. Or if my car rolled at 110, well I would be dead, but how scary is that to even think about.

When they did the original testing for my little sunbeam they had problems with the whole soft tops ripping off their mounts at 90mph

well.. i was about 2 cars behind the z, he was doing a fly by move instead of trying to line it up yet again.. basically my expression was just silence and =-O

I have not checked prices on t-tops, but i would assume they are expensive. Shame on him though, I'm sure they had to be making noise like air was starting to creep in around the seals, I know the old sunroof I had would do that at about 70mph on the highway, the air would lift it up and it would pop up a bit, I had to open then close it to get it back again. I don't think (not sure here) that they would just fly off liek that with no warning inside the car. Like loud streams of wind.
