Eurosport Tuning offers a cat-back system from Steffansson AB for the S70 non-turbo, has anyone used this before? The part number is 600-826-39. I'm wondering how much of a difference there is in sound. I don't want anything too loud, as this is my daily driver and used on long trips. Thanks......

EST is a kickass place, and Frank is a great guy. It's slightly louder than stock, go for it!

That would be great if it's only slightly louder. I also want to put in a Magnaflow hi-flow cat, maybe 2-1/4" so that it ramps up in diameter between the OEM piping and the EST exhaust. I will have to have the inlet and outlet tubing custom fit, and some O2 sensor bungs put in.

If you want something louder, Supersprint is another option. They have a resonated and non-resonated exhaust system available for the non-turbo S70.

I'm definitely interested in the quietest setup. The dual resonator Supersprint is quite a bit more expensive.

ok, don't take this the wrong way...

1. you want a quiet setup.
2. your car is NA

why don't you just leave it alone ? I mean doing exhaust on an NA isn't really going to do much for ya, especially if you want to keep it quiet.

just a thought. smile.gif

Kevin, you don't get it! Everybody want to have perfomance exhaust, and looks good. Like people put exhaust system on vw beetle. it won't make them fast, but they just want to be different that others.

Yeah, i hear that Ilya, I'm just hearin that he wants to keep it quiet... I dunno, seems to me that spending the money on wheels or suspension would be a better idea for this guy, I'm just throwin ideas out there, not tryin to be mean. smile.gif

U weren't mean, just everybody want Exhaust. Mostly all exhausts that i saw is too quiet. I heard BSR,IPD and EST one. It is hard to notice a difference between stock exhaust, it just too quiet for me.

Please re-read my first post, I'm looking for something that isn't "too" loud. Clearly, I expect an increase in sound, but I would rather purchase the system that increases the sound the least. I've got a loud autocross car, and that's why I would rather my Volvo, which tows my autocross car (thus my Username "VolvoTowVehicle") be as non-offensive as possible, yet still have a bit more towing power. That is why I am considering a cat converter and cat-back upgrade. Every little bit helps when your engine load is increased by 2900 pounds, but if it's an extreme increase in volume, it's not worth listening to for 12 hours when I tow to Topeka for Nationals.

I know that I'm about ready to hack off the second muffler on my BSR exhaust. At first I was pleased with how quiet it was off boost. But now I'm ready for more rumble biggrin.gif

I can tell you that the SuperSprint without the resinator sounds perfect. BUT I have a turbo and from what I understand the turbo actually quiets the exhaust some.

I had one on my S70 for several months. I don't have any verifiable information concerning better performance (better throttle response, etc.). My dyno-butt is generally out of calibration.....

Now that I've put a stock exhaust back on, I don't really notice a decrease in performance, which leads me to believe that the larger diameter pipe of the Steffanson did not do all that much.

The Steffanson set comes in three parts: a muffler, a resonator and the shiney tail pipe. As for noise, the Steffanson exhaust is much louder than stock between 2200 and 2500 RPM (there is a old post in the detailing section about using peal & seal/dynomat and whatnot to insulate the passenger cabin from that kind of drone). Outside that range, it's only slightly louder than stock.

I say that it's much louder because when I heard it after I put it on, I thought I had installed it incorrectly; I thought I had a gap between the cat and the muffler. I got used to it after a while.

The set is mandrel bent and welded nicely. It's made of good quality stainless steel; 304 I guess. I took it off last weekend; it's pretty filthy, but it appears to be in good shape. The muffler is much smaller than stock, and the whole set is quite a bit lighter than stock.

I've got some photos of it at home if you wanna see them. I'm the last person in the Western Hemisphere w/o a digital camera of some sort, so I don't have any sound clips.
