hey all,
stopped by a speed/muffler shop at lunch looking to get a new EXO setup...
guy said...
new down pipe not make much diff...and suggested going with new MAGNEFLOW RACE CAT,..then they'll pipe it back to a REACTIVE round muffler w/ 3" angle tip...
all for $580(includes install)
is this good bad on price and setup or should i be thinking otherwise??

don't buy anything from that shop...he obviously has no idea what he is talking about....a down pipe will make a LARGE difference...

hmm...but after seeing the EST catback set up...its basically what the dude was going to do...just with racecat included in total of $580 installed!!
and maybe later i can do the down pipe(getting broke)...
the shop still lackey moronic??

I'll sell you my 2.5" turbo back exhaust (needs some slight work) for $400....
all it needs it someone to extend the downpipe to a flat, uncurved portion...then all you need is a 2 foot testpipe made with slipfit ends...it shouldn't leak then....or you can just weld a cat in after the Downpipe (i'm keeping mine)...
BSR muffler and resonator...the tip got damaged when I had it removed but you could easily weld a new pipe onto the end of it and use it....just an option...

Well, if the shop can do that cat back for 580 installed, and you NEEED it right NOW... then yeah, go for it, but the dudes a weetawd if he thinks that a 3" DP is a waste.
your shop have a mandrel bender, or access to one? if he doesn't, i bet your local diesel shop should have one.

it includes magneflow racecat too!...so how can i make sure that if in the future i want to do a new 3" down pipe, that it'll fit into the MF racecat that they'll put on??

It won't be that hard for your shop to "make it fit" if you decided to go to one in the future.

have them weld flanges on the downpipe and cat and exhaust...that way when you get a new downpipe, you can just swap the downpipe off and hook up the cat to the downpipe...no more welding requried..

Don't listen to that shop.
Go with all 3" piping. A 3" downpipe will make a big difference. I would go with a different muffler though, like Magnaflow.
