Has anyone else had oil come out around the oil cap? I'm guessing I need to replace it.

I didnt realize they awarded people for spitting at senior citizens and stabbing people. Interesting.

It may not just be the gasket... You may have a clogged PCV system. We don't have a PCV valve per se, but we have several lines running off the top of the head down to the intake and then around to an oil catch under the intake manifold.

It's a big PITA to get apart, but worth it. I recently cleaned and painted my intake. See pics below;

The intake thread

The vacuum hosee from the top of the valve cover to the intake (right by the turbo) was clogged. Actually, it was the nipple on the part that plugs into the intake pipe (looks like a tree) that was plugged with coked oil. I had to use a drill bit to clean it out.

Check to see if your dipstick is getting blown out of the tube... that's a pretty good indicator that it's not just the oil cap seal.

I'm new to Volvo's, but from what I've read a clogged flame trap can also cause pressure to build up in the block,...which could possibly blow out cam seals/rear main seals. Tell me if I'm wrong.

Your right, to prevent this make sure the PCV is clean and change you oil at least every 5000 miles for a turbo charged car.

as far as i know, turbo cars do not have a flame trap. huh.gif

maybe you were just saying that keeping the PCV system clean will prevent you from blowing your cam and rear main seals.
