I never thought about it that way Chuck. Good point. Im used to tunning cars in open loop, the larger exhaust an improvement in VE did lean the mix out some. But metering less air in closed loop makes sense. Maybe the best fix would be the move the first o2 to the top of the down pipe where it is still semi "narrow".
Essentially... upgrading your exhaust isnt something for a simple preset tune...unless you are going to take the time & money to get retuned and a bigger better turbo , etc...
*sigh* No more down pipe for me... just fix up my temp catback into a more permanent straight thru one

I can,t seem to get logged on here at work.
so I'm not to smart on this, but if the o2 reads that the car is lean because it has a 3" down pipe, wouldn't it richen things up. so the next group of air is to rich,so the o2 leans things out?
I just put a 3" down pipe on my 94 850turbo last night. we got the wrong muffler so we had to hook it back up to my stock exhaust, just after the second o2. the car runs alot better and spools and breaths better. do I need 3"? no. do I have less power? It sure doen't feel that way.
I did a search on volumetric rate, but could not find volvospeeds post. please post a link if possible.
Thanks

Hiya
I'm feeling stupid too...
Could someone please explain how reduced backpressure in the exhaust system can cause slower turbo spoolup? I don't geddit unless I'm missing something really basic
Thanks
