My trans took a crap on me bac in november and i had it rebuilt by a transmission shop. 2700 dollars and a week later I got my car back and imeadiatly noticed that the upshift from 1st to 2nd was harsh. The next morning and any other time i drove my car after it sat for awhile, anything over 1/4 throttle would chirp the wheels from 1st to second. Then a month and a half later my little friend the flashing arrow came to say hello again. Three days later no more trans, under warranty no big deal took it back. Three and a half weeks later I get it back on fri. ans sat. night bend 2 rims on a pothole don't drive car for 3 more weeks. When I start to drive again same hard shift from 1-2 , 2 weeks later tranny go bye bye. It is now back in the shop which has to this point not given me an extension on my warranty even though they have not fixed the problem yet.

Does anyone know what could be causing the hard shifts, perhaps something they missed 2 times(or just can't do right)

any thoughts would be greatly appreaciated

If they rebuilt it???? Who knows??? could be many things..now if they put in a reman unit from volvo that's another story. Actually if they would have put in a volvo unit you probably wouldn't have had any of those issues Could be in the shift solenoids

There is only two places that I know of that can rebuild the Volvo transmission so it works again for 100K, One is the Volvo rebuild unit you get from the dealer and the other is from level 10. Not sure what your problem is as no one rebuilds them, I work at a dealer and we are not allowed inside, we have to put in the Volvo rebuilt unit. (that works)
