2011 C30 Rdesign Manual Left from wobble

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Perhaps you can give me some help.

Have a 2011 Volvo C30 RDESIGN 6spd. I have a vibration, and wobble, and clicking on stop starts or turning. When i turn its just one click , nothing continuous. At speeds over 90kph, I get a wobble from the front left. Also under acceleration it feels like the something isn't correct in the front left. I would describe it as vibration or engine missing.

I have replaced both axles as i had a tear in the right boot, so replace both sides.

I have put IPD stabilizer end links on .

Checked balance of front left wheel as well.

Sometime when I am braking from speeds of 90kph plus, i get vibration through wheel, like a warped rotor. But other times its fine. Doesn't happen at lower speeds at all.

Car idles great, smooth, great gas mileage, no knocks for contact sounds from engine bay.

At a loss on what next. Could strut mount bushings and bearings be creating this issue?

Anything suggestions that would help , would be most appreciated.

Thank you

Gary

I would replace the strut mounts and bearings (struts too if you go that far). Have you checked the control arms and ball joints? On a side note, my Porsche Carrera had a clicking noise on one side when I would take off from a standstill. Turns out the strut was loose internally and the shaft was moving.

Hi folks, looking for some help with a misfire/sputter on a 1998 V70 N/A (537xxxkm). Car was throwing some codes for the rear O2 sensor, but wasn't doing anything funny. Coming back from a camping trip, it started to misfire/sputter while cruising at 100km/h in 5th gear. It then started stalling out while at idle. I replaced the rear sensor, and shortly after, it started to throw codes for the front O2 sensor (slow response, and lean mixture), and do the same thing.
It is fine on startup, but sometimes will have little fits of stalling at idle, and sputtering/missing when accelerating/cruising. When it would stall, I used to be able to get it too restart on the first try, but now it usually takes 2-4 cycles of the ignition to get it to catch. Once I give it some gas and take off, it improves a little, and just seems to lack a little power. When at idle, you can also smell the exhaust, which normally is very clean.
Today I replaced the front O2 sensor. The car ran well for 30min, then threw the same codes, and started acting up again. I've tested the PCV and the compression, and both are fine. The spark plugs are new, but the rest of the ignition system (Coils, leads, rotor) are older. I'm thinking this sounds like either an ignition system problem, or a fuel system. I'm not sure how to run the normal relay test, because it it is really intermittent with its sputtering/stalling. (Currently there seems to be about a 50/50 chance of it being fine, or acting up when I take it out) I'm probably going to redo the ignition system, because the car needs it anyways, but am wondering what else this could be.
      Thanks guys!

      2008 Volvo C30 1.0 T5 with 130k miles.
On cold startup the car runs rough bouncing between 1500-2000 rpm for about 10 sec before returning to 1500 until it is warm, the following codes have appeared: P0101 MAF circuit range/performance, and P0300 Random/ Multiple cylinder misfire. I have taken the following steps to solve the issue:

About a year ago Cylinder 3 coil pack was replaced due to P303 code (issue was solved, just added as background)
New MAF sensor was installed (after attempting to clean the stock Bosch unit, which also didn’t stop the code from reappearing) 2 weeks ago
All 5 spark plugs replaced with Bosch units (3 months ago)
New air filter, which was installed at the same time as the spark plugs

The MAF problem started about a month ago, but the rough idle only 2 weeks ago, even after clearing the codes, they return after 1 or 2 driving cycles. Rough start up even happens after codes are cleared.

Anybody had this issue, or have any advice as to what the next steps should be?

Hi everyone, I've been a lurker for awhile and manage to find answers to most of my questions with search. However, this one got me stumped.

I recently got my hands on a 1998 V70 AWD 5 speed manual. The guy who sold me the car said the torque tube's viscus coupling was worn, lucky for me, the car came with an replacement.
After replacing the torque tube I found something strange with the angle gear. It free spins with the car in gear. So I thought the connecting sleeve was worn. After spending a few hours taking the angle gear out, I found out the angle gear is in good shape(lacking a bit of oil). The splines for the transmission side was jagged and the sleeve was completely worn! I doesn't even contact.
Does anyone know if I could replace the output shaft from an automatic transmission into my manual transmission? The 5 spd AWD is super rare in Canada, and the US never got this option(from what I've been told). I really want the AWD to work, if not, I mind as well trade it for an actual FWD with more upgrade option(I have Nivomat shocks for rear....).

Any help and advice is greatly appropriated.
