I have the worst luck with cars!

everything on my 98XC engine has been replaced in relation to causing a cylinder to miss and I mean everything. It happens occasionaly without reason and never triggers a code. Last time it missed while idling at a light , I noticed that the air pump was on. Is it possible that it would cause the car to miss in only 1 cylinder and create a trouble code?
