In the 1994 Volvo 850 sedan, is the light bulb for the center console shifter the same as the ashtray light???

Possibly...never replaced the ashtray bulb...the shifter bulb is a prindle bulb

OK just checked with parts and they are the same bulb Volvo part number 1363149

Thanx for the response!!!!

The center console is up/out, and I could not see any bulb receptacle for the shifter, EXCEPT for the one connected to cigarette lighter/coin holder module. It is attached to the side of the cigarette lighter.

I removed the bulb, and it was identical to the one that I just purchased from the dealer for $9+ with tax

and inserted/locked the bulb into the black, plastic clip/holder.

Today or tomorrow, I will attempt to reinsert the clip into the square, oblong metal container attached which, I think, holds the black plastic receptacle for the bulb.

There seems to be an element of difficulty, because when I removed cigarette lighter and ashtray modules, the light clip with bulb had fallen out of the metal container. You can tell someone has been there before.

I will also call the dealer for light bulb part number.

They are both the same!!!

Two bulbs, same number: one for cigarette lighter and other to light up the shifter gears.

I bought the two bulbs today and replaced them. There is a separate holder for each. Bay 13 does have a detailed printout from a Volvo member for the S70, and it does say that it can apply to an 850.

Also, the dealer printed out the parts drawing (A picture is worth a thousand words).

Next, the odometer. I just ordered a gear from odometergears.com.
