i dunno what a bad air pump sounds like(or even where it is located in our cars), but i'll throw that idea out there too.

evap canister hose / evap valve hose most likely. To my knowledge, T5-R's don't have air pumps. C'mon Grant, don't be afraid to tinker with stuff and get your hands dirty

is this just T5-Rs or all T5s?
anyway Grant, if you don't wanna poke around under your hood i could come by and take a look. i know exactly where the evap valve is since mine has been giving me problems over the past few months. i'd just have to follow the lines from there.
it is possable that a line just popped off due to the higher boost you are running.

He's right there is no airbox. I took it by a Volvo mechanic and of course the noise stopped, but he did look at my rotor and wires and said they totally need to b ereplaced along with the seal, cause it's leaking alittle bit
Come on over Andy, you know where I live.

Agreed. Are you getting any codes? You'll probably need a new evap valve.

Look at the above link to see if you have an air pump, it also describes the normal operation. Could be your noise.

i've looked under his hood before and everything looks just like my car. neither of us have that hose running out of our airbox and under the battery tray.
i'm wondering why some cars have an air pump while others do not.

a new cap, rotor and wires isn't going to hurt anything though.
on another note, i took his car for a drive and hot dang!! that ST chip makes a big difference. he just needs a boost gauge now.
