next time you pop your hood open, double check to see if you have a hose running from the airbox(the thing that says "Turbo" on it) down under the battery tray. i'm pretty sure you don't have it.

A broken headlight wiper motor can make a pretty sick sounding noise too. Often times the affected wiper motor gear will activate itself and retry to find its park position creating an intermittant type growl.
