ok so i am going to take my friend home when i was going up this lil hill to an intersection(95th lil hill thing onto 15th heading north towards blue ridge) <jake and kevin. when i litely push on teh gas to go through the stop sign my car dies. this is an auto people. so i turn the car back on and jsut let it sit for a bit. the rpms stay at 1000, then drop to about 4000-3000 then jump up to about 1500 rpms. then i hit the gas again to go in drive and it dies again. full tank fo gas, just filled up, oil is fine.

so i get back home, i hadnt driven the car all day, my brother had who had just got home form college and was excited to drive it. he had driven it most of teh day. so i go home after it dies, it made it back, only about 3 blocks away from home so it was ok. and i ask him, "dude what did u do to my car?" he says "nothing"

me-" were u driving it hard?"
bro- "no man"
me- "u sure about that?"
bro- "yes i was driving it hard, but not really"
me- "dude u cant drive it kinda hard u either do or u dont, how hard were i driving it?"
bro- "ok fine i was driving it pretty hard"
me- "ok thanks man u jsut screwed my car over"

so i am not sure what is wrong but if anyone could help or have any kinda of explinatino that would be much appreciated.

yeh teh CEL (since my car is canadian it has a lambda sign for the check engine, but its always on for teh O2 censor i think. so......

oh and when i drove it home i was only boosting about 5psi rather then 10-11psi.

did one of your boost hoses disconnect?

also, you should check your codes again. if you got a new code you might not know it if the light is always on.

sounds like you either popped a hose, or just blew it off.

doesnt sound like a big deal though.

my car did the same thing to me today, just shot my boost hose off. if you try and get on it it just runs super rich and sputters and dies.

check your boost hoses.

Here is what could have happen. Your cel/Lambda came on for the O2 sensor when the "ok ya man I was driving it hard" was going on. Once the O2 comes on the computer reduces boost. Just to knid of see if thats whats going on; clear the codes, disconnect the battery for at least 10 minutes, that will reset the adaptives, Then reconnect the battery and take it on a test drive, if everything seems back to normal, get the O2 sensor replaced.

(Oh ya if thats it, let your brother off the hook, he didn't break the O2 tongue.gif )

hehe, it also sounds like it might be the IAC controller hose. Everytime you come to a stop does the car try to die and you have to keep it revving a bit to keep it running? If so check under the throttle body cover for a hose that is disconected from the Idle air controller. I had this happen while driving hard, come to s stop light the car dies, I was like What???? MATE! mad.gif

But got home and checked it out.... good luck

well that is uber long distance for me the IAC is the idle air controler and it is under the throttle body cover to the right of the engine. Follow the throttle cable and it is under that black cover... check the hoses of the silver thing located infront of the throttle pulley.

well, it's a 99... don't know how possible the ETM failure may be. Personally, I feel a major hose has come off. Check ALL your hoses, if a vacuum line came off that wouldn't really cause it to sputter and die. This is more like one of the big hoses that connects between your intercooler piping. feel free to call 15617033547 if you have any questions, i'll try to help
