Ok, another one of those cold start questions. First thing in the morning, the car starts really slowly - cranks fine, but doesn't fire right up like usual. It acts almost like it is a little flooded. When it does start it is kind of a stumbling, weak start. Cranks fine.

I recently changed out the fuel pump (didn't change the relay) and didn't get it all sealed up again properly as I found out when fuel was spilling out of the assembly. I know I need to open it back up and either replace the gasket, plastic nut or both. I have been living with it by not filling up the tank completely for a while. I am sure that the tank is not sealed because when I unscrew the cap the sound of air rushing in is not there. But I don't smell gas.

This starting issue never occurs when the engine is warm. It almost never occurs after the first start of the day. My ideas:

leaky fuel injector(s)
bad fuel pump relay
gasoline vapor not being contained in EVAP canister

I have not yet pulled the plugs to see if one is more fouled than the others. Anyone have any ideas?

TIA

Try cleaning your throttle body. Get an old tooth brush and some carb cleaner and scrub the carbon off the throttle plate and bore.

I don't think a dirty throttle body would have any effect on starting, as it is generally closed. I have cleaned out the IAC within the past couple of weeks, and I do keep it pretty clean.
