If that doesn't resolve the issues, will have someone diagnose properly......Have a call into "my friend" to provide insight into what he "used" to generate those strange codes.

haha.. it sounds like he used an OBD-II code reader just by reading the codes that you posted, but will coudn't make sense of them... they have to be just perfect for us to be able to understand them, keep us posted.

Nah Kev those arent even in OBDII format (ie P1418- egr temp signal missing)

1996 Volvo 854 2.4L non-turbo 212,xxx miles Forsyth, Ga.
Works in progress - Conversion to turbo with a NA motor or 260hp no turbo. Say a prayer for me.
302mm brakes, IPD sway bars front and rear, QBM end links, MSD 6A ignition w/Blaster 2 coil pack, Jet Chip, Bilstein Shocks/Struts, R Springs. Hell I can't remember everything else.

Print this out for him, will show you how to pull and clear the codes on the 1995.
Write them down and you can use the maintenance seciton of this site to determine what they mean or just post them and we will figure it out.
