There was a short (about 2"-3") piece of vacuum hose attached with some clamps on it, and an odd looking cap on the end of the vacuum hose. It was not connected to anything else (that I could see). Is it supposed to be connected to anything? Or should I just put a vacuum cap on the valve and call it a day?

P.S. is there a part number for the PNP alignment tool from Volvo? Would the service department loan theirs out? If not, how much does this tool cost?

that my friend is a transmission vent.

I seriously doubt they would loan their tools out. Look in the maint. section and there is a procedure to do it without the tool

You are exactly right, and I found the diagram of how it's hooked up in VADIS.

Well, I finished the PNP switch replacement and all is well so far smile.gif rolleyes.gif I started at about 10am this morning, and it took me the better part of about 5+ hours (I was with the car for 6-7, as I was also inspecting my turbo and CBV). After I put everything back together, I took the car out for a drive and it shifted fine, reverse lights come on when it's in Reverse, and no CEL either. I did not use any alignment tool or even make any markings or anything.

If it is not aligned properly, would it throw a CEL immediately? Or should I be worried that it might throw a code sometime in the future?
