Help! My drivers window is stuck half way down and will not go up. Is there a way to manual raise the window? What could cause this problem? It's a 97 850 GLT.

take out the switch and clean it with electrical contact cleaner. I bet you've got crud between the contacts. possible cheap fix.

Which switch? The one in the center console with the mirror controls? Does it pop out with a screw driver?
If it not that, do you know how to get the window up manually?

yeah the center console.. that switch is a prime target for crap to fall in and mess up it's operation.
to get the window up, you'll have to pull off the door panel and see whutcha can do.

You have to take the center console out to do the switches correctly. There is no manual up for the window. Try toggling the switch back and forth rapidly 10-20 times and see if that gets you the power back so the window will work. If you have contact cleaner (radio shack) spray some in while doing the toggling.

Just be careful with certain brands of contact cleaner it will craze or haze the plastic..if you overspill on the outside clean it up asap with a shop rag

OK...stopped at Radioshack and got the cleaner but couldn't get the switch panel out. Didn't want to damage the plastic trying...is there a special trick? This is what the panel looks like...I was using a screwdriver to try and pry it out but no success.
Do I have to take the whole center console out...how do I do that?
I took the door panel off to lift the window manually so the interior would not get wet and I can lock the car.
by the way, the window goes down but won't come back up. There is no response or sound when trying to put the window up.
Any suggestions/advice?
