Heh, these FWD's are aggravating. With my 944, if something broke, it broke. It didn't send me cryptic messages of unknown reliability through a computer.

Aside from my various O2 sensor codes (possbly fron intake leak, bad plugs, who knows), I just pulled:

231 Long term fuel trim part load at upper or lower limit
152 Airpump valve signal missing or faulty (funny, since I don't have an air pump)
432 Control module box temperature too high

What do these mean? 152 is particularly funny since my car doesn't have an air pump. I guess that means the signal is missing or faulty. laugh.gif

This is bothering me like you wouldn't even believe. If the car would just do something consistently, then I could fix it. But my mileage is still good, my boost is still low, and I keep buying stuff only to have it not help anything.

Anyone wanna trade cars?

EDIT: Oh yeah, and this is the worst part. I can't clear codes. They never repeat, so Ill get something along the lines of 443, 111, 432, 153, 111, 111, 522, 212, 432, 111, 111, 231, 152, 432, with no identifiable sequence. Can the computer even store that many codes? This is bloody ridiculous. When I hold down the button for 6-7 seconds and let go, it just sits there. Won't let me clear codes. I really, really hate computers.

Really Greg. Now tell me where it is. laugh.gif Because from what I know, the air pump connects to the front of the airbox. Nothing on my car connects to the front of the airbox.

K, I'm gonna throw my theory at ya. Unless it's some sort of California thing, the '95's didn't have air pumps; at least I've never seen a '95 with an air pump. 432, control module box temperature too high I'm thinking could be a problem. As logic would have us believe, electronics do funny things when they get too hot (Hrrmm, funny, why is the CPU making a funny smell. Oh... dookey huh.gif ). Anyways.... my thinking is that the ECU could possibly be physically damaged from heat/other elements. Take the thing out and open it up and look for signs of physical damage (i.e. broken solder points, bad connections, etc.). Also, get someone else w/ a '94 or '95 850 turbo and trade ECU's. Prasamin is in the L.A. area and I know several other members are too. See what happens when you do that.

the code jumping thing is really weird....i would say try resetting it right after you get a 111....maybe that will help, or try discon. your batt for 10 minutes, then try resetting codes.

Okay guys, again, I don't want to just throw money at the car. Would it be worthwhile to take the car to my local Volvo tech and have huim try to clear codes? I guess I'll pop open the ECU box as well. It has never been changed (although I've never ehard of an ECU swap as preventative maintenance). The AMM, again, is not something I want to replace unless I know it's bad. I'll send Prasamin a PM and see if we can meet up for parts exchanges.

I will, yet again, try disconnecting the batt to get the codes to go away. If I could just reformat and install Linux, life would be better. smile.gif

not too keen on swapping parts, but if you do come by, I can try and help you...the AMM or MAF is a pretty delicate part, and I don't wanna mess with mine as long as it's working, and don't wanna pull the ECU either!! (sorry, would help if I wasn't afraid of messing something of mine up)....but like I said, come by, and I can see what I can do, and atleast try to reset the codes, test drive, check the engine, etc.....

I'm in Redondo Beach now, by the way.....

We swap ECUs all the time. Not too much to mess up. We even put an IPD T-5R ECU into Alex's 97 LPT. Ran great!

It almost sounds like you have the wrong ECU. blink.gif

if you know someone with an 850, take the MAF out of their car, put it in your car, clear the codes and go for a short drive. If the codes don't reappear then chances are, your MAF is bad. monkey.gif
