So tomorrow I'm going to replace my embarrassingly loud brake pads w/ some PBR Organic ones. I've been told it's really easy, but I've never done it and would greatly appreciate any tips or things to keep in mind people would share from thier experience.

Thanks!

They are very ez to do you will need to pull the tire, off I hope you know that tho. Next remove the caliper bolts there is 2 of them they have a rubber boot about 1in from the head of the bolt. I forget off hand what size they are like 14mm or about that. Just pull it straight up then might have to tap them up then you can kind of set them on the spring why you pull the old pads out of the caliper. You will need to have a C-clamp or some type of a clamp to compress the Caliper in. Then Put the new pads on and slide it back on I believe you have to put the lower part of the caliper on first then the high part can go on. And then you’re all done. Would be a very good Idea to use some brake cleaner on the rotor when your all done to make sure it is clean.

I likely made it sound like more work then it is should be able to get them done in less then 30mins.

Will throw this in. A lot of people have problem with that spring on the front caliper for some reason. Here is how I get it back on. Start at the bottom with the spring end in the hole. Then put the top end in the top hole and hold it in place with your right palm up against it. Using plyers bend it back to behind the horn on the caliper. It will make more sense while your doing it. What most people do is bottom hole bottom horn, top horn, top hole. I install it bottom hole bottom horn, top hole top horn. Either way that clip is evil so make sure to have glasses on. And grease the crap out of everything less ye be want'n za sqeels.

The write-up mentions a specific brake grease.. I hope any grease I can find at the auto parts store will work...

I've talked to enough guys who know their s--t that i'm satisfied that non-oem brake pads are a tough proposition on Volvos. I'll probably be going all OEM rotor pad combination.

My car came with OEM pads and I think I threw them away less than 6 months later. Never had a problem or squeek.

I agree with Chuck, the OEM pads wear out really fast. You won't have problems with squeaking unless you don't use enough grease...lay it on thick! by the way I have well over 10K on my existing pads which are Raybestos QS Ceramic pads..no problems with squeaking.
