I nned to change my spark plugs on my 96 850 GLE.

What brand /type should I buy?

I am going to replace my fuel filter as well. Do I need to disconnect the battery before doing this???

A good buddy of mine is a Volvo technician and he said use nothing but Volvo OEM plugs, mind you i'm not sure if he was so adament becasue i have a turbo or not, but they were pretty reasonable/on par with other plugs.

As for the fuel filter, i changed mine last weekend and did not unplug the battery. You will need to bleed the fuel line a bit so have something to catch the gas!

you can go with OEM plugs or platinums, or iridium...you have an N/A i believe, so copper won't "help"....

as far as batt disconnect goes you "should" but i've done both things with the batt connected....get a Bosch fuel filter...very easy to replace....i didn't even bleed the fuel pressure...gas spilled out, but it evaporated soon enough!

I tried the bosch coppers in a NA motor it ran but not as well (rougher idle, lower mileage) i swapped to teh bosch 4+ and I can tell a difference in idle and mileage

Works in progress - Conversion to turbo with a NA motor or 260hp no turbo. Say a prayer for me.
