Hey all,
Long time since my last post. So, awhile back my evap. canister fell off and broke. I drove about 1000 miles without it. On tuesday I got it replaced and fixed the hoses as well. It seemed to go great, and as soon as I started up the car it started fine (no longer revved up high and came down slow, etc.). It drove a little better too. I cleared my CEL and everything went fine.
So, I drove about 150 miles since then, without any problem, when the CEL comes back on tonight. No apparent reason it came on...I can't figure it out.
So...I've got a brand spanking new evap canister from fcp groton. I've got my hoses fixed as far as I can tell. and now, I've got a CEL from A2 socket and the code is 315 for EVAP SYSTEM.
What's going on? Car runs great...and my inspection is up in 18 days.
Lastly, something to note is the fact that everytime I clear the CEL I hear a "release" from somewhere around the fuel rail. It sounds like air releasing....dont know if that helps.
Thank you so much.

You might need an evap valve.

by canister do you mean charcoal canister or did you actually get a new valve?....you may need to replace the valve, in which case I have one for sale!!
also, the "air release" sound you hear when you clear the CEL is normal....just adjustments.....

Ummmm. I had the canister replaced.
Where is the valve? Why would I need it replaced if the evap canister was what broke in the past? How hard are the valves to replace and what do they run?
And pras, how much for yours
And lastly, can I pass emissions if I just clear the CEL and keep the engine running hot, or does the engine draw on the evap system during normal idle/revving.
Thanks guys!

A possibility that now with the system complete and closed, dust/dirt in the lines clogged the valve after the new canister was installed.
I read recently here that with A2-315, the car uses more fuel. True or false? If true, it might not pass emissions?

well, with the CEL on, you won't pass emissions....actually, the valve is attached on top of the radiator fan where your intake hose comes in under the hood...it literally takes about 10 minutes to replace....
Joe, I have the valve and the filter update kit, only without the wire...dont know if you already have the wiring harness or not...anyway, PM me and we'll talk...let's see if it is indeed your valve though...find it, check all the connections first....
I think you could pass emissions with a bad valve, but don't quote me on that, since you tend to run rich with it bad....a bad canister could have lead to the bad valve, Rich may be able to give you more on that.
