egtting the crankshaft seal done this week and have a couple of questions. Is this the same as the rms? Is there anything else that should be changed when the gearbox is out?

It sounds like the front crankshaft seal which means your tranny is not pulled. Might as well change the timing belt since it has to be removed anyway. Most often the rear crankshaft seal is referred to as the rear main seal. good luck
