1994 850 non-turbo Back in Feb. I had an emergency(caliper was stuck causing left rear to smoke, needed to replace brake hose, caliper, rotor, and both pads) requiring my left rear caliper to be replaced by someone other than my reg. mechanic, my car is now being seen by my reg guy and he's telling me my rear brakes are screwed up causing the squealing after retrieving the receipt I find the guy who did my brakes used a rebuilt caliper and I was wondering if this could be the problem. I've never used the goodyear guy except to replace my tires and am kind of surprised with what I paid to find that he used rebuilt parts. I'm kind of curious is this a norm with this part or should I have been asked what I prefer.
Thanks

Most aftermarket brake pads squeak like crazy in the rear. The squeak is probably because of those, not because of the rebuilt caliper. Did your regular mechanic identify any problems apart from the squeaking?

Yep...the problem probably lies in the pads ...the aftermarket calipers usually come loaded(meaning with pads) I would pull the pads out and add a factory set..still probably cheaper than a new unloaded caliper from Volvo?

and to answer your other questions, using a rebuilt caliper is VERY common, just like a rebuilt axle.....
