I have only been driving my R for 2000 or so miles and I have noticed uneven wear on the front tires (Falken - 205/45/17 on Volans)

The inside of the drivers front tire has significantly more wear than the others on the car. Do I need an alignment? Car does pull to the right a small amount but I thought that was due to the road.

If you have uneven tire wear, then YES... Most definitely. Check your tire PSI as well.

I've been looking for an excuse to get new tires. Anyone have experience with a Town Fair Tire? They offer a free front end-alignment with the purchase of tires. I am a bit hesitant when anything is offered for FREE.

They offer good prices at face value, but you need to consider shipping and mounting prices....also have to find someone local that will installed drop-shipped tires. Tirerack costs and headaches usually add up to more than just going to your local tire dealer.

Alot of tire chains offer free alignments with a 4 tire purchase. Some folks beleive they do this with the hope of selling a ball joint or tie rod in the process. Also, some of the larger tire chains will match tirerack.com on tire prices. But they will add about $7 per tire for shipping, which you would have to pay anyway if you order from tire rack. And if you want to press your luck you might be able to get them to match BJ's or Costco on the mounting/balance/valve stem, usually like $7-11 per tire.

Your tire wear issue is most likely that it is out of toe and is scuffing, giving you a pulling feeling to that side. Town Fair is good and for 17's will probably be competitive for purchase, ship, mount, balance and alignment.

Thanks for the reply - everyone. I have bought 4 sets of tires and two sets of rims/tires from the tirerack. I am very familiar with their products and service but I have never had to get a car aligned before! I am not one to hit a curb and avoid potholes at all costs.

I'd like to have a one-stop shop perform the alignment and mount/balance the tires. I think Town Fair has Toyo's and I was thinking about putting on a set of 215/45/17 Proxes.

I've got those and I think they're great excpet for road noise. Some people are telling me that's normal for performance tires. huh.gif
