My 98 S70 has two kinds of rattles coming from the front of the car. There is a clunk type of rattle when going over bumps, which may be a sway bar bushing, and there is a tinny sounding rattle that comes and goes when driving on a rough road surface. Here are my questions:
1. Are there after-market sway bar bushings that can be installed to fix the sway bar rattle?
2. What is causing the high-pitched rattling sound?

you can purchase sturdier sway bar endlinks to releive that problem.. after replacing my old sway bar end links i was amazed how much noise they made...

All of the noise probably comes from the bar links and the upper strut mounts(spring perch) the rubber part..spring perch is probably the high pitched noise you hear

Sway bar bushings cannot be replaced on your car as the whole sway bar must go. End links do make a lot of noise when bad. Like techs say, replacing them is recomended
