after school yesterday, me and a friend from school(driving the pimped out m3 he is going to have to sell soon) drove up to jacksonville to go to the drag strip. we followed a kid from our school in his mustang gt. we got there and there was about 150 cars, so we took care of business and got in line to drag. i assumed from the screwing around we did on the highway that he would have times a shitload quicker than mine, and since no one there knew stuff about volvos they all did too. the first race i had i was paired up with a new (2000ish) mustang who decided to intimidate me by wearing all his tread off
. i thought he would romp me, but decided at least not to lose looking like a jackass.i just rolled up to the light and got my stuff together
.we hit it and after my full 1 second reaction time
i jumped on him and almost immediatly stared pulling. having nothing to do with the automatic i watched my lead increase the whole time, staring at his car like i was in the middle of buttfu<ing his mother
. ending with about 2 car lengths between us. never having been to this track before i didnt know where to go and going about 60 saw the end of the road right in front of me. i plowed into the brakes and spun it around leaving my crapy stock suspension to absorb the brute force of the U turn i had to pull and having my life flash before my eyes
. i got back in line to go again and my friend came up and showed me his slip. he ran a 14.2 and was pretty stoked. i had just checked my slip and gladly pointed out the 14.9 i ran. he couldnt believe it. i ran twice more pulling in a 14.8 and a 16.5(spun the wheels right after launching). his reraction time was as slow as mine(over a sec) so i figured he would break 13 by the end of the night. there were so many nice cars there, but oddly (i guess not really odd since we were in central NC) no other "luxury" types. we both raced heavily modded srt4s and i raced a cobra with drag radials and an exhaust that made the ground shake. both of us lost to the srt4s, but my freiend messed up 3rd gear, otherwise he would have taken him. it was fun as crap though.
