Fox News Is Trash!

I'd say that nothing fox news says has any credibility, but they are a 'trusted' news source to a large (increasing) segment of the US population!

That only adds credibility to the stereotype of American stupidity/ignorance!

haha.. that's classic.. and exactly why everyone hates americans!!!

I think you're just pissy because almost certainly some American along the way has shoved his size 12 American boot up your jerk. I know I sure want to. Comparing America to Nazi Germany is wrong on so many levels. The fact is when you're a world superpower you can't just sit back and let the world walk all over you, it's not in the job description. And if Canada doesn't like it, well to say the least I don't see them stopping us.

has anyone figured out that cable news in general is trash?

*bandwagon time* -- fox news sucks, it's all republican propoganda, but every other cable network is great and unbiased!!

hey if yall want your opinions fed to you, keep your eyes glued to that tube, doesn't really matter what channel you watch. also don't forget to pour over the op-ed pieces in the papers and on the net for opinions that you can claim as your own, either.

Limbaugh is a conservative? holy crap!!!!!

-so does this mean that all of the information he pulls up will be in favor of his side of his argument??? -- that was a rhetorical question, don't answer that, but now is your time to get really pissed off and rant for a while

but since limbaugh is a conservative, that means that al franken and michael moore are even-keeled liberals who mantain a professional perspective that is right down the middle, and the middle just happens to be the left.

now, what i want everybody to do is to pick a side, doesn't matter if it's right or left, because the arguments will suck just as badly either way. i want you to make this thread continue for two, maybe three more pages of bashing the following people: bush, limbaugh, coulter, tony snow, al franken, bill clinton, al gore, and any other blowhard you can think of. but the trick is, which isn't really a problem here, you must use someone else's opinion and claim it as your own, and only present facts that are in your favor, because you have chosen a side, and refuse to look at things objectively.

you cant let your TEAM down, you know? objective evaluation of government is out the window, it's us vs them.

ready

set

This thread wasn't about conservatism vs liberalism it was about the general consensus that there's an anti-american outlook in Canada and vice versa. I wouldn't even have posted here if it wasn't for Asinine and his asinine comments about America and it's relation to Nazi Germany. Although I suppose we did invade our peaceful neighbor Canada much like Germany did Poland. Wait nevermind we're fighting TERRORISTS in Afghanistan, and the remnants of a genocidal dictatorship. Seriously who opposes these things, oh let the terrorists run free they've only knocked down two buildings. WTF! Oh leave the crazy man killing his own people and using international aid to build arms in power, he hasn't really hurt us any. WTF!

you just have to get into the mindset that most everything is our fault. if you choose that worldview, not much is a mystery anymore. objective reality is an awful thing, because individuals must find creative ways to circumvent it, lest image control for your side go lax.

i know this topic was not originally about conservative vs liberal, but there does seem to be an inkling of a debate going on of how fox news is trash because they poked fun at canada, which quickly morphed into how it is a republican news machine. people can stand in their ivory towers all day shouting at other people in their ivory towers, and it perplexes me.

asinine, if you want to talk about comparing nazi germany's rise to imperialism and america's rise to imperialism, you've got another thing coming. please don't spout off about how we are nazis, and bush is hitler, unless you truly desire to look like a red hot imbecile. i can totally see how alot of people are pissed off at bush and how alot of people hate america, but don't draw the nazi inference. the main difference is, for one, the last war of expansion was the spanish american war, which was a century ago. but if you think imperialism is the pervading attitude of the day, explain the absense of extra stars on our flag for france, germany, italy, half of the countries in north africa, japan, korea, kuwait, afghanistan, iraq, etc.

there is a great difference between wars of annexation and wars of occupation. also, the united states became considered a superpower in about one generation, which was the WWII generation, which had no connection to wars of annexation.

oh, one more thing, the last territorial war we fought, explain how the philipines and cuba are still american territories?

Anybody who thinks Fox News is a republican/conservative propaganda channel has to work on their critical thinking skills. The media has been moving left since WWII and people have just been getting used to it. The old saying:"How do you cook a frog? Slowly", applies in this case. This isn't playing well with the ratings lately with the advent of "alternative" news sources. As such Fox decided to hedge their bet by getting commentators from both political stripes and some that are neutral. Turns out the commentators with the best ratings are conservative and they get more air time. Its called free market.

Remember though that news itself should be neutral. It should not have a bent toward either party. However that isn't even remotely true. For example NY Times and CBS both caught making up news. The commentators can say whatever they want because they are commentators, but they should at least try to be truthful. However lots of them are just out to get people riled up like Begala and Carvile. There isn't much substance just trying to get people angry. Also there is Coulter and some others that attempt to do the same thing the other way.

The reason Rush Limbaugh is so popular and so hated by liberals and Democrats is because he is a commentator ON the news. That and he actually backs up his claims with source material so you can check it out youself. That is he reports on their reporting. He points out their inconsistencies and attempts at sophistry. People like that because he points out stories that are complete bull and attempting to mislead people. Libs hate it because somebody is making them actually work at trying to fool people instead of just getting away with blaming the evil republicans, race baiting, scaring old people, ect.

Personally I happend to like people like Tony Snow and Jerry Doyle because they are more like regular people that happen to think the media and the neo Democrats (because todays Democrats are very far left of John Kennedy) are going too far. They identify themselves as conservative, but are more concerned about common sense and their country doing well and not just US vs. Them politics. Anybody who spouts "Bush Lied", "Bush has no brain", ect. I'm not going to listen to because I know no rational discussion is going to come after. Conversely anybody who says things like "Hillary is a lesbian" or "Harry Potter is going to corrupt our kids" I'm not going to listen to either. There has to be some commons sense. Screw the politics and just do what is good for our country. Their are many good reasons for and against the Iraq war, health care, ect. They can be discussed civilly.

oh what happened to the good old conservatives such as nixon, reagan, and bush senior, who sought to implement good financially conservative policies without bowing to the religious wackos for votes. The "holier-than-thou" types just bother me because they are so contradictory and because people are so willing to listen to them. As bad as clinton's getting his hotdog sucked was, it's childish to equal it to jumping from excuse to excuse about why you started a war. The time for worrying about "morals" is after the bigger issues are dealt with. I also dislike the way our military actions have been run both in afghanistan and in iraq. If this was the 1980's, we would have been far more effective at arming and training the iraqi's and afghani's so as to cut down with the involvement of our troops, and we would also have had the good sense to rig the elections in iraq so that the sunni's stay in power, rather than the socially repressive shiites what we have handed the country over to, who will surely forge strong ties with iran. We also would have cracked down on musharraf and his dancing around the US and pretending to support us. What this country needs is financially conservative leadership with the chops to handle a military situation well with the minimal involvement of actual ground forces. Spare me the religious and "moral" BS, this country is and always was supposed to be a secular place of science and reason, but that doesen't mean it has to be a welfare state. Just as with our aid to africa, sometimes you need to pull the plug to kick-start people (or countries) into being truly self-sufficient. I also think we should get rid of the agricultural lobby and subsidies to american farmers, as it will help to make our agriculture far more competative, and it will also open the door to the kinds of agriculture-based economic development that africa and other parts of the third world need to gain that much-needed self-sufficiency. How's that for a set of political ideas unlike anyone else's?!?!?

Try tuning in to FNC Special Report with Brit Hume. A great show all in all but the final 15 minute segment with the Fox All Stars is fascinating television. Charles Krauthammer is probably the best news commentator any any network show today. Also, don't confuse many of the other shows past the regular news time slots on Fox News Channel with real news reporting. After Brit's show, the rest of the programming is more entertainment than breaking news.
