This family-owned independent used Volvo dealership and shop in Charlottesville, a hotbed of Volvo drivers, has been in business for two generations and is the best source I know for quality reconditioned Volvos and Subarus. They specialize in post-1995 cars, but every now and then they find a nice 940 or 945 that gets snapped up by the knowledgeable local Volvoisti in no time. The shop does excellent work, and all service customers get a loaner car with one or two days advance notice, regardless of how minor the service. Some of the loaners are pretty cool, too, if you like 240s and 740s with 200k+ miles on them (although more and more of the loaners are 850s now). I've bought about 10 cars there in the last few years. The prices are higher, but that's because they do extensive reconditioning--replacing driveshafts, turbos, seals, transmissions, whatever it takes. There's a 30-day return policy and a 1 month, 1000-mile powertrain warranty. Highly recommended. http://www.edgecombs.com

This place is like 3 miles from my house. I drive by it everyday on my way into town. Everyone there is very happy to answer any of my questions and concerns. Everyone there knows my me and my car whenever i drive up. After recently purchasing a new car from somewhere else, they were happy to print out diagrams of parts of the intake, turbo, ect ect... that i wanted for free.

This past winter when i broke one of my rims(long story, not my fault) they helped find a junkyard, and install the rim that day for only $50 and never alerted my parents, all in a matter of a few hours from my arrival.
