So what should I do? I could have the flywheel replaced at $500, that seems insane though, is there any technical reason why a flywheel should not be machined?
help!!
update: talked to the master tech there,
Volvo HQ argument (dealer/mech called to get info). If you machine the flywheel, it could warp, and when its thinner it also will reduce the pressure that that pressure plate can exert..... makes sense
my thoughts: But if you dont machine it any imperfections will start cutting / wearing the new clutch disk. After 185,000 miles my flywheel cant be prestine.
master tech's thoughts recomendations. If it was his car, hed replace the whole flywheel.
