But it does lock with remote and switches. i went to the dealership and they told me is the control module went bad and it will cost me about $250 for it. do i really need to go to the dealer for this?

Normally I replace the door lock assembly when this type of failure happens, I've heard of some on the forum taking it apart and attempting repairs, not sure whats repaired or how long it lasts.

I have the same problem with my 98 V70 - Bay 13 has some instructions for getting to the door lock mechanism - it might be helpful. I used them to take apart my door, but could not figure out exactly how the mechanism is supposed to work. Went to take the locking mechanism out, but one of the bolt stripped out, so I'm waiting for a replacement bolt to come in. I priced the lock at $126 at the dealer. Working in the small confines of the door panels can be frustrating, so you have to ask yourself how much the hassle factor is worth $$$$. It may be a while before I can get back to it to attempt it on my own. I will stay tuned to this thread to see what you do - and post how I did when I get to it.

I did take the the door panel and just like Navy06 said, could not figure out the mechanism. I think I will leave it like that since I drive by myself most the time so it doesn't bother me too mcuh.

I got an idea, does any one know that if the front door and back door assembly are the same? If yes, I might just swap them. tongue.gif
