Just thought I would quiet some of the rumors with Volvo racing and the SCCA S60s. At Speed may be running next year. A few sites are incorrectly saying they are not. The team is up for sale just as it always has been. Kinda like Volvospeed is always for sale if the price is right. I know a CA based group that may be sponsoring 06 in with a 7 figure sponsor slot. So my info is reliable.

But would At-Speed still be running the S60R's, or would they run Porsches like they had in the past?

Still the S60s. I do not believe they are running any of the Porsches now. Whats funny is Porsche is half the price to race for a season as Volvo

From what I was told, since Volvo is done dumping $$ into the program, At-Speed is actively shopping the cars to privateers. Some of the people who worked for At-Speed on the S60R's are looking to follow the cars where ever they go. It was my understanding that without Volvo facotry backing, the car would NOT race in 2006.

They could care less about Volvo backing, but you are correct. Volvo stopped backing them some time ago. They were going to be sponsored by the Breast Cancer Awearness group for Seca but decided not to run.

Right, but they need backing to continue. Volvo threw lots of $$ at the project and the cost of the cars is rediculous. They could care less about where the $$ is from, there just needs to be alot of it.

Edit - I see where I mis-typed in my first post. Without ANY backing the cars will not run in 2006.

If they did race the S60s in 2006, wouldn't they basically have to pay Volvo for the license of using their name? and what not?

Do you pay Volvo when you race at the track? Do runners pay Nike when they run? No. They already "paid" volvo when they purchased the cars.

I dunno, something about making money off their logo....then again, i don't race for money or competition (at least not legitmate competition) so I wouldn't have to worry about that....
