Yesterday we replaced the battery in the car, due to problems with the old battery discharging within 5 minutes or so, with key in ignition. We then took a trip into town, where its very hilly. On one of the steepest hills, the car idled as normal, but as we accelerated the car would not move and the RPM stayed at idle. The accelerator could be floored, but the RPM would not move up. Eventually, the car moved up the hill. A little later we moved into a parking lot and put the car into nuetral and could floor the accelerator and the car continued at idle speed, then after a lag accelerated. This problem appears to be intermittent and seems to be made worse by hilly conditions. We think its probably something to do with the electronics. Not sure if related, but car stalled at stop sign this morning on level ground. Have never had problem with stalling before. If anyone has any ideas on what could be causing this problem, we would appreciate your input. Thanks a lot!

I'd suggest getting the codes read, there may be a clue there. My guess is that your pedal might be bad. The pedal sends a digitial and an analog signal to the Engine computer and if it's bad then you get what you described. However there is an outside chance the Electronic throttle is causing the no go condition thats why getting the codes read will help to figure out what direction to head for repairs.

Nice link(doesn't work) but until volvolady gets the codes read NO ONE knows whats wrong with the car, so the link is very much out of place in this thread. (Jack)
