Driving home from church on Sunday in 90-100 degree weather, our 94 854 ASR suddenly made this whining noise while we were doing 60 mph. We pulled off and I opened the hood and checked for leaking fluids. I got back in the car in reved it a little bit to see if the serp belt was slipping. It did not, but the whining noise did follow the engine rpms. We went straight home and parked it until this morning and it would not start. The starter wouldn't even engage. Battery voltage is 13+Volts so that seems ok. Accessories seem to work ok and the cars systems check works.
At first I thought steering pump, a/c compressor, or alternator was going bad...but that wouldn't prevent the car from starting, correct?
Dunno. The car is at the dealer and they weren't sure if they could work on it today.
What do you think?
Stats 94 Volvo 850 Sedan Auto N/A just turned over 100k miles and was just serviced for 100k miles.
