no codes are set. there is an obvious lag in performance at low rpm's. the car even sputters and jerks until about 3500. after not starting for a few days, while revving the engine just after start, thin white smoke comes out the tail. i thought about the following replacements, but can't afford them all. its a 94 n/a 850 with about 92000 miles.

airbox thermostat
knock sensors
oxygen sensors
catalytic converter

could someone please explain what symptoms might be of each of these being faulty? who knows, the culprit may not even be anywhere near where i'm looking, but hey, what the monkey, right?

Try an Italian tune up including the cap and rotor and wires.

Tried that. Someone on Brickboard suggested a leaky head gasket. Could this be it?

Have you tried a can of BGK44 in the fuel tank?

Maybe the MAF?
Search for the username Chopper along with MAF. Seems like he's replaced his fair share of those.
Not sure of the symptoms though.
