I have replaced the a alternator in my 96 850 but something is pulling amps on the battery when the engine is shut off. After the car sets for about two days the battery is completely drained. Any ideas where to start?? sad.gif

Welcome to the board and Happy Thanksgiving! For starters, I'd suggest you change your user name unless you want a whole lot of junk email at that email address. It's also a good idea to put your car info and mileage in your signature so the folks on the board can help you better. smile.gif

As far as your battery drain, you'll basically need to pull fuses one by one and test to see if that's the circuit causing the drain. The search feature on Volvospeed is excellent. Here's a thread I found that you might be interested in:

rp850's method is a good way to go but before you get too deep into it make sure that the glove box light is not sticking on and then proceed with fault tracing it.

Thanks. As you can tell I'm new and that's a good point about my user ID. I've been trying to find where to change it but no luck yet.

That's a good idea. It's pretty common for that light to stay on because the door doeasn't always make a good contact with the little plunger switch.

Had the same problem on a 740 and it was the glovebox light staying on. Might be a good place to start.

You'll have to send a PM to either "gdogg16" or "the underlord" to have it changed.

You can do that from here:

I have traced the problem to the white wire that comes off the wiring harness from the positive side of the battery (six red wires and one white). When I disconnect the white wire the problem goes away but I loose my keyless entry, interior lights when doors open, and check engine light is now on. I can live with this but it's just a bandaid and I'd like to fix the problem. Does anyone know where I should go from here? I have checked all relays and fuses. I have a feeling it might be in the keyless entry but but I don't know where to start.
