I don't know if these guys are new or what, but I didn't see any posts listed for them yet so I thought I'd start my own. These guys are absolutely awesome.

I have never dealt with a dealership that cared so much about the customer, and I didn't even buy the car from them! Sam the service manager is a great guy to work with, and went a long way to help me out with errors done by other shops. His mechanics were extremely detailed in their inspection of the vehicle and made sure I knew every problem and exactly what it meant (i.e. if it was minor, they explained that, rather than telling me the sky was falling with every minute issue).

They have a beautiful facility, the shop is extremely clean, their prices are very competitive, and all of the staff there is extremely friendly. I wish they could get me decent pricing on all other makes/models of vehicles because I'd be taking my wife's alero there as well.

Seriously, this probably sounds like a plug, but I have no affiliation with these guys other than being a happy customer, great people to work with.

Fairfax, VA?

The whole dealership is a mess, I took my car there only twice, one for recall and another was tranny flush. and once for emission. Emission guy is the best, that guy takes extended lunch. He comes at work at 11am and lives at 2pm, I had to wait for him, but he decided to go home.

And VW division of that dealership is even worse

I would def. suggest Don Beyer instead of that

My experience - - The service department is pretty good - - The sales dept and back office both a little confused and ineffectual -

Fairfax Volvo is poking crap... i have never seen a worse run dealership. Don Beyer Volvo (all 3 locations) offers great, and consistent service..

EDIT - oh and im pretty sure that they are owned by Koons fyi.

Well ill put this here because I really can't decide where else to put it.

I took my car into the dealership at the beginning of the month for a few things that needed to be done. I have always brought my car there for everything besides performance work. When I brought the car in I told them it needed to have the minor oil leak fixed and the A/C fixed too. I also had them rotate and balance the tires. while it was in there they called and told me the battery terminals needed to be cleaned off which they did so I decided to let them steal a few more $$$ from me and agreed. When I got the car back I could instantly tell it was not working right/the way it was when I sent it in (much slower in acceleration). I called them and asked them if they had reset the ECU for any reason and of course they denied it. after a long conversation with the service technician in charge of my car he told me that he talked to the mechanic who worked on my car and that they may have reset it but needed to go back and double check which car it really was. He told me he would call back the next day because it was already 6pm and wouldn’t have time. I finally called back 2 days later when I did not receive a call back. the service technician who was in charge of my car (my usual guy, Doc, was on vacation) told me that he forgot to call back but that the technician DID in fact reset the ECU because of a thrown CEL(thrown because of my down pipe w/ cutout) and that my ST chip was reflashed and there was nothing they could do. I will also tell you that every time i bring my car in there i notify them that i have had work done with the ECU and not to reset it. However this was the first time I didn’t and it didn’t cross my mind because there was no work being done which would have needed to deal with the ECU. Every time I call to deal with this they tell me a different person is either not in the office or they are on vacation and that seems to be the person I have to talk to each time about getting it fixed. A few people in the service department there have warned me that there will most likely be no help from there side in dealing with the situation.

Olli from ST told me that to get it fixed since there was no socket installed at the time of the reflash I would need an ECU which has not had the chip previously removed. and he would have to refalsh that one for me instead.

I am supposed to be getting a call back on July 3rd to speak with the head of the service department to try and work this out when he returns from vacation. What can I say/do to get this fixed???

If they fail to get my car to the way it was when I brought it in I would def not return to give them business. Although they have always done fine work it was NEVER over the top. people there are nice but clearly not worth the risk if they don’t help you get your car working.

I agree with the several detractors on this service department. My oldest son moved to Fairfax, VA back in August to start his first post-graduation job. He took my 1998 Volvo S70 T5M with him for transportation.

The local Volvo dealer is Fairfax Volvo so I told him to take the car there for an oil change and tire rotation. He provided his own motor oil (Mobil-1 synthetic) as I've always used synthetic in this car since it was new.

The tires only needed rotation but the service dept. talked him into a rotation and balance (he didn't know any better). After he dropped off the car the service dept. called him suggesting that the engine coolant looked a 'little dark' and they would gladly do a flush and fill and replace the thermostat too for a cool $400. Fortunately, he had the presence of mind to call me and I told him it wasn't necessary.

The final bill for an oil change and a tire rotation and balance was over $110!! Sounded a little high so I had my son scan the bill and send it to me. I immediately noticed several things... They charged him the full price for the oil change even though he supplied the oil. They charged him $6 for a 'gasket' which is not needed for an oil change on these cars and they charged a $7.50 fee for unspecified 'shop supplies'.

I called to complain and the service advisor agreed that the 'gasket' charge was incorrect and he would ensure a credit was processed to my son's credit card. Three weeks later.... no credit. I called the service manager to complain and he said they'll get right on it.

Bottom line, I suggest staying away from this dealership... unless of course you don't mind getting ripped off!

I suggested he try AutoScandia in Herndon, VA next.
