Well, after looking for ~6 months, I found my car; a Black '99 V70R. It is completely stock and has 75K miles. It was originaly a Canadian car, but has resided in the states for the last couple of years. The funny thing about it is that the speedo is predominately in MPH and the Trip computer is all about MPH and MPG, but the climate control settings are in deg C and the Fuel gage is in Liters. Go figure biggrin.gif

See attached pics...

Now the question is what to do 1st? laugh.gif

Very nice! Welcome to the black V70R club!

First thing to do I'd say - Stage 0!

Thanks! What does "Stage 0" entail? I do not want to dump huge amounts of cash into it right now, maybe in a year or so, but I'd be interrested in some small things that would make it more fun to drive.

Also, I do currently AutoX my Sprite (see sig. and attached pics) and have Ice Raced my '03 Grand Prix (don't ask biggrin.gif ). It is loads of fun ,and safe I might add. The R will take over the ice racing duties. Maybe I'll even AutoX the R a few times; I'll have to look up what class it fits into. Maybe STX, or STS... if I modify it.

Thanks again,

Roger

Basically. Stage 0 for a 99+ is

Plugs
oil change/new filter
tranny flush
vacuum lines
02 sensors
clean injectors
clean IC/IC plumbing
Air filter

As far as modications go, there are alot of ECU tuning options you have [iPD/TME, EST/Powerchips, BSR, RICA, etc], and you can always have a custom exhaust built up although it is a little tricky with the AWD stuff in the way. iPD and EST sell dual exhausts setups for the AWD's which look and sound good but are not that great performance wise [they are only axle-back]. iPD and EST also sell 3'' downpipes for the AWD's but they are $$$. EST sells a nice intake kit, and K&N sells a drop-in replacement filter.

Suspension wise there are not too many options for the AWD cars. You can purchase an adjustable Ohlins suspension kit from the dealership, which is $$$$$$. There is supposed to be a KW Varient 3 setup coming out for the AWD's as well but I have not heard any news on that lately.

There is a lot of stuff you can do to your car, just keep browsin around here.

PS- That Sprite must be a blast!

Oh yeah, be super careful about tire wear [make sure all 4 tires are very close in wear], tire pressure [all 4 even] and bevel gear fluid level. Otherwise you'll be hating that you bought a Volvo w/AWD.

The AWD trans on these models wear "incorrectly" if the wheels spin at slightly different speeds. Watch out for driving on a "mini" spare also!

I think that the 1st thing I'm gonna do is tint the windows... (at least the rear 5). Do you know of any good tinters in the SE Michigan area?

Also - Open to amyone who knows - For stock replacement parts, should I just go to Murray's or AutoZone (I talking plugs, and other tune up parts)?

I also neeed floor mats! any good place to purchase them from? The floor has 2 pegs that they fit over to hold them in place. I was told that htis is because it is a Canadian car, but not having seen a US Spec car, I don't know... See Pic (you can see one of them on the driver's floor).
