Any major insurance company would consider that car a total with that damage. Door skin, fender, prep, color match, paint and blend (which would be almost the whole side of the car) - about $2500 to $3000 damage from a good collision shop. Definitely more than 70% of the value of the car.

Hopefully for you they will fix it. Good luck.

Why are you such a negative guy? $2500-$3000 isn't 70% of the value... I had a 95 850 Turbo that insurance said was worth $7600.

Seriously, try saying something positive for once, the guy was just hit, saying his car might be totalled when it's just a door and minor paint ISN'T totalled.

thanx for the positive attitude. The reason I got my 850 is some putz made a left in front of me in my 89 740 wagon and i got a check for 4300 not bad considering i got it for 650.

So i do hope they fix it but if not I'll just take all my aftermarket stuff off and start hunting for another volvo hopefully another wagon. If they do total it I'll prob get 6000-7000 hopefully

I got my T-5R after someone pulled out in front of my old 850 Turbo. I was bummed, but this car is better.

If you took that as negative, I apologize it wasn't intended that way, but read the whole reply. biggrin.gif That's why I said, hopefully they will fix it.

However, it is reailty. That is not just door damage with minor paint. To do it right: the door skin needs to be replaced and the possibly the front fender by how that picture looks with labor, then prep, colormath, and paint. To blend that correctly will require blending from fender into the quarter panel. That kind of work from a collision shop is about $2500 - $3000. At most, a 1994 850 turbo would be $4,500 depending on mileage, area, and market. That would be on a borderline total, they may leave the call up to the body shop.

So, before flaming me for being negative and saying I am wrong, make sure you at least know what you are talking about.

I never said you were wrong, I am just saying try not to be as negative... 1/2 the posts you make are negative or just showing that you are sooo much better than us.

Back ON TOPIC. Insurance adjuster is coming to look at the car tomorrow? This may sound dumb, but clean up the car tonight as best you can, get any crap out of it, ect. My car had nothing in it, was freshly waxed, and when the adjuster looked at it, it really did help add value to my car (paint was in "like new" condition).

AFAIK, 850 Wagon/Sedan shouldn't matter. But, if you are doing an S/V70 swap, you will want to do all 4 doors as they have different door skins inside and trim/handles outside.
