explain that, 3 mufflers is way too much for a perfromance exhaust, I agree with Shaun about won't be any gains

Sounds more like stage 2. Stage 3 should have intercoolers and turbochargers. tongue.gif

Negative Ghost Rider, check their site. I have a BSR Stage 3 ECU in my car and the only requirements for the tune are the things I listed.

for those to lazy i'll quote right off the page

QUOTE
OK; I can hear you saying, "How can an Ultraflow muffler beat a straight 3" pipe"? This welded Ultraflow (as opposed to the seamed SS Ultraflows) has a HUGE *4"* PIPE running through it; only the entrance and exit is 3". The 4" pipe with smooth drilled holes in it flows better than a 3". This is the only muffler I've ever tested that has a shot at REDUCING the back pressure that you get with NO muffler at all, and it actually quiets the car down more than my two 3" Race Magnum Bullet mufflers (which offer MORE restriction)!!

if those are straight through muffler which they look like they are they do not have anything blocking the air flow so how does it hurt flow and performace? don't you think if the company could pick up 5-10hp from removing one or two of thier mufflers they would??? they have them there because they can have that many mufflers and not hurt flow.

i thought it was exhaust 101 to know that straight through mufflers like that do not hurt flow like persay a flowmaster would. those are all just giant resonators which will cut down on sound and not hurt flow. i mean hell gus only did this test in 01' ? so we have had 5 years or so to know that its out there on the net? you mean to tell me none of you have seen this link? what about his intercooler flow test?(not a good one but still its been out there)

i f'in swear sometimes i think VS is about 10 years behind the times

lol... Tag, you're it!

Seriously though people, go find a performance muffler and look through it. It's a straight pipe, much like the one making up most of the exhaust system, except with a bunch of little holes in it and packing inside those holes to absorb sound. The only way a straight through muffler is going to hurt performance is if the inside diameter of the piping gets significantly smaller.

and? i'm young and most of the time i feel like i'm in my 50's trying to tell these young people about things that are basics, i mean you look @ something and you figure it out, you spend a little free time reading the net vs spaming msg boards and you'd be amazed how much you can learn about the world. but still something as simple as a 5 year old test on mufflers, you'd think anyone with a car that is looking to do anything to it(and knows SOMETHING about the internet) might of @ least once read it in passing or heard about it

Geez I'm only 29 but here goes. People today want EVERYTHING given to them. You mean... we actually have to work, research, try something...boo F'in hoo.
Have you not read the daily inundation of "hey i want 400hp from my wheels yo, what do I need to BUY to make it happen"
At least I know Greg feels the pain, frankly I'm really worn out on it. 'bout ready to sell the 850 for a 525iT.

i don't spend much time here on VS as i guess i am not as understanding as most of you who stick around. if you read between the lines there is a lot of good info here on how to make a big hp 5cyl, just that no one does it

and don't waste the $ on a 525, get a 540 or the sorts .. so much more worth it haha

well to explain you why this system will work fine and make gain, here is the picture of the muffler, the system comes with 2 long and you can see it doesnt have any different interior, 3" all the way.

I don't know how you can argue this based on one source lostart, considering when we had the FMIC argument 5438903480 sources were cited and people still thought it was wrong...really that's true for any argument on VS...so I guess uh my point is, you can never get your point across on VS and have it accepted no matter how much fact you provide. But either way, the link you cited showed that all the mufflers were a restriction except one and therefore, our point wasn't without merit..
