This morning was fairly cold (17 Deg.) and when i started my car it started fine, but my headlights and dash lights did not click on for about 30 seconds and i can't turn on accesories like my seat heaters and rear defroster. i've noticed this happens more when its cold out, but its never taken this long for the lights to come on before. is there a relay thats starting to go? has anyone else had this problem or am i the only lucky one here?

Sounds like an ignition switch problem too me. When it's cold things contract and your issues all seem to route towards the ignition switch ....Just a thought outta my drunken head

So this came back hard core today. its been doing it off and on, usually when its cool out. is there a relay for all the electronics? it sounds like something clicks after i turn the heater on and the interior warms up, then everything comes on.

I haven't been able to find a manual specific to my car, and my local dealer just went under. is this info in VADIS?

Hi, USCGC70 - I have a couple ideas for you, but I'm not sure how correct they will end up being. I know that some of the C70/V70 cars had headlight switch issues, and for certain cars there was a recall for it. I think it was said that you could push the knob in towards the switch and the headlights would come on , if I remember correctly. For the other items, I wonder if your battery is ok, or if your alternator has been tested. It almost sounds like it lacks voltage, and then it clicks in and charges. I can watch my S60 lighting and see that there is a slight charging delay (maybe 5 seconds) on cold startup before it is at full voltage. Maybe the same issue is occuring on your car, only in a more pronounced fashion. You might check battery voltage before startup, then immediately after, and then check to see what it is when everything come on. Let me know how it goes. .
